Raj Iyer, the U.S. Army CIO, is to end his tenure after a long span of two years. Iyer revealed the news through a LinkedIn post on January 1st week. The official was instrumental in redesigning the Army’s digital transformation approaches.
Earlier, Iyer was assigned the task of devising a digital transformation of the Army.

“I will watch the fruits of our work for many years to come from the outside with pride. But, while so much of what we accomplished is visible now, the biggest accomplishments will not be seen for a few more years. If I felt that the blood, sweat, and tears we have poured into this could be at risk, I would stay on, but as I noted, the current change in our Army is irreversible. My job as the CIO is done when Army senior leaders can explain the Army Digital Transformation Strategy,” says Iyer.
Modernization efforts were concentrated on objectives such as cloud adoption, bolstering cybersecurity, and modernizing business systems and technological infrastructure.

He had to face the formidable challenge of redesigning digital strategies during the days when the pandemic was at its peak. The entire world had to resort to remote working strategies.
Additionally, his tenure saw a noticeable shift toward cloud capabilities. The responsibilities of the CIO role were divided between IT, network communications, and policy duties as part of the strategy’s launch in September 2021.
