Qualcomm is gearing up to unveil its latest powerhouse for mobile devices, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which promises a considerable leap in performance over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. According to a leak by Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flexes its muscles in the AnTuTu benchmark test, boasting an impressive total score of 2 million points compared to the 1.6 million points of its predecessor.
The real showstopper appears to be the GPU performance, with the new chipset showcasing a whopping 40% improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the AnTuTu GPU test. This advancement, attributed to the new Adreno 750 GPU, hints at a substantial boost in gaming capabilities for upcoming top-tier smartphones.
However, while the GPU performance steals the spotlight, the CPU performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a tad underwhelming. Scoring 440K points in the CPU test, it’s just 15.7% higher than its predecessor.
It’s crucial to bear in mind that these early benchmarks might not paint the full picture of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s actual performance. Digital Chat Station also notes that the tested Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is equipped with LPDDR5T RAM, faster and more efficient than LPDDR5X RAM. The use of LPDDR5X RAM in commercial smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could potentially affect real-world performance.
The promising benchmarks hint at a powerful upgrade, yet it remains uncertain how significant the performance gap between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and its predecessor will truly be. The official unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is anticipated on October 24, promising more concrete insights into its capabilities.
