Oracle Unveils On-Premises OCI with Compute Cloud@Customer

Share:

Oracle has introduced Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer, a new cloud infrastructure solution that extends Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) compute services to virtually any location. This offering enables organizations to create, deploy, secure, and manage workloads using the same software stack as OCI, even in small-scale deployments such as a single rack.

This flexibility allows organizations to run applications and middleware on OCI compute, storage, and networking services within their own data centers. This means they can take advantage of OCI’s cost-effective consumption model while adhering to data residency requirements. Furthermore, it ensures a consistent user experience, whether services run in an organization’s data centers or Oracle Cloud Regions, as the same APIs and management tools are available, simplifying the work of developers and IT managers in delivering a unified experience.

Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer is designed for scalability, offering high performance and availability. It can easily expand to meet the needs of both small and large organizations. Starting with 552 processor cores and 150 TB of usable storage, it can independently scale compute and storage to over 6,000 processor cores and 3.4 PB of storage capacity.

This solution is fully integrated, in contrast to on-premises offerings from other cloud providers. It is entirely compatible with OCI public cloud regions, OCI Dedicated Region, and delivers the same core OCI cloud services at the same pricing. Data security and residency are also prioritized, with data always encrypted to enhance security. The OCI Console provides organizations with control over data locality, replication, and backups, ensuring compliance with data residency and privacy requirements.

Organizations using OCI-based authorization and authentication can integrate Compute Cloud@Customer into an OCI tenancy, establishing a single, unified environment that spans on-premises and OCI Region data centers.

Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer is part of Oracle’s distributed cloud strategy, which offers various deployment options and services to provide organizations with a consistent cloud experience. This approach ensures that customers can deploy the same software wherever they need to run it, aligning with the growing demand for cloud services that provide data sovereignty, scalability, and low-latency connectivity.

Oracle’s launch of Compute Cloud@Customer underscores its commitment to offering a wide range of cloud solutions to meet the evolving needs of organizations worldwide.
